Who Should Be Hungry Like the Wolf?

  • If you are hungry like the wolf, you are going to make sales even when there are no sales to be had.
  • If you are hungry like the wolf, or want to be hungry like the wolf, you will need to know the how, the why, the where and the when of sales, no matter what or who you are working with.
  • If you are hungry like the wolf, you will be able to see those sales from a mile away, smell them in the wind like a wolf scenting its prey.
  • You still have to identify your prey, and you still have to make your move at the exact right moment or risk wasting your effort or energy.
  • You MUST be hungry like the wolf if you have any intention of being successful in sales at all.

The better question might be who should NOT be hungry like the Wolf.

Your effort can be in direct proportion to your success, but as all of us know, this is not always in our control. You can draw on that moment, analyzing where the sale went off the rails for you.

Maybe you thought you had it right up to the moment that the customer said "no thanks." But the point is that the Wolf knows that he cannot wimp out, or he starves to death in the snowy forest. The salesperson cannot wait around for the easy sales, as they may never come. If you are only going to seek out the easier sales in the easier markets, then you will be the same as every other salesperson who chooses to always do things status quo. It is the "hungry" salesperson who knows that the only way to truly advance to higher levels – to sell more – is to push yourself to your limits, unleashing and tapping into that inner strength which will propel you straight into the arms of success.

A hungry Wolf will hunt in the forest that has everything that he needs – a warm den to sleep in and raise his young, clean water to drink and of course, prey to chase down and to eat. A hungry like the Wolf salesperson will have the same basic needs. In a small, onetime only market, the hungry salesperson may exhaust their leads fairly quickly. If you are hungry like the Wolf, you are going to make sales even when there are no sales to be had. There are so many markets available to salespeople today – so many opportunities around every corner that can prevent you from getting "stuck" in one place.

If you are hungry like the Wolf, you will be able to see those sales from a mile away, smell them in the wind like a Wolf scenting its prey. And just like the Wolf, you feel the rush of blood in your veins when you get closer and closer, enjoying the reward and that feeling of elation that occurs as you make the sale. If you are hungry like the Wolf, or want to be hungry like the Wolf, you will need to know the how, the why, the where and the when of sales, no matter what or who you are working with. You still have to identify your prey, and you still have to make your move at the exact right moment or risk wasting your effort or energy.

You MUST be hungry like the Wolf if you have any intention of being successful in sales at all.
